Editorial Review:
Harris serves up a treat that will capture and enchant audiences everywhere—a big, bold, and irresistible novel about football, family, and secrets.
Brady Bledsoe and his mother, Carmyn, have a strong relationship. A single mother, faithful churchgoer, and the owner of several successful Atlanta beauty salons, Carmyn has devoted herself to her son and his dream of becoming a professional football player. Brady has always followed her lead, including becoming a member of the church’s "Celibacy Circle." Now in his senior year at college, the smart, and very handsome, Brady is a lead contender for the Heisman Trophy and a spot in the NFL.
As sports agents hover around Brady, Barrett, a beautiful and charming cheerleader, sets her mind on tempting the celibate Brady and getting a piece of his multimillion-dollar future—but is that all she wants from him, and is she acting alone?
Carmyn is determined to protect her son. She’s also determined to protect the secret she’s kept from Brady his whole life. As things heat up on campus and Carmyn and Brady’s idyllic relationship starts to crumble, mother and son begin to wonder about the other—are you just too good to be true?
A sweeping novel about mothers and sons, football and beauty shops, secrets and lies, JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE has all the ingredients that have made E. Lynn Harris a bestselling author: family, friendship, faith, and love.

Customer Rating: Summary: E.Lynn Does It Again! Comment: As I was having dinner one night with a friend not too long ago, he told me about E.Lynn Harris' latest novel, 'Just Too Good To Be True'. I couldn't wait to get to the nearest Borders book Store the next day to purchase a copy. When I arrived at the book store, they were all sold out. I went to a 2nd store, and they had sold out there as well. They say 3rd is a charm. I found the book a the 3rd store, and I finished that book in 2 days. I simply could not put it down!
Just Too Good To Be True is totally different than any of Harris' previous works. The story of a mother's unconditional love for her son, was something that I could relate too. Although Carmyn Bledsoe's methods were questionable, you found yourself empathizing with her on so many levels.
Brady Bledsoe is a young who has lived half his life being the apple of his mother's eye. In her mind, Brady can do no wrong. How could he when he lives his life according to the example set by his mother. You'll be surprised!
Just Too Good To Be True is about putting your trust and faith in the wrong person, and about forgiving yourself and others when you realize the mistakes you've made. It's about well kept secrets that find a way of rearing their ugly heads.
Just Too Good To Be True was a total enjoyment to read, and I fully recommend running out and purchasing your own copy if you haven't already. Don't borrow this book from the library or a friend "Black Folks"! Go buy your own copy. It is worth every penny. Customer Rating: Summary: Too Good To Be True Comment: I reviewed this book and it was a wonderful novel. I would recommend this book to everyone to read. I read this book within days of getting it. I simply couldn't put the book down. After I read and meditated on the word of God I would find myself reading this novel.. I love E. Lynn Harris' work and he's a phenomenal man and he's very inspiring. Oh and he loves his RAZORBACKS!!!! Customer Rating: Summary: Never a let down:) Comment: This book was good from beginning to end. E. Lynn Harris never lets me down, although I wish something more would have happened to Barrett for the role she played in the story but alls well that ends well.. Keep up the good work. I can't wait for the next book:)
~Shareakah Customer Rating: Summary: A slightly different slant Comment: For me E Lynn has come through once again. I started this book on a Saturday morning and was done by noon on Sunday. I appreciated that this book was "non-Basil" based and really enjoyed the story line. The story focuses on the relationship of a mother and son as well as on some of the pitfalls of the professional sports world. All in all it went down like a good glass of wine- smooth end enjoyable. I hope this next book doesn't take this long. :-) Customer Rating: Summary: Great Read Comment: I've read plenty of E. Lynn Harris books and this one stands out in my head the most. I was so good I couldnt put it down.
