Editorial Review:
The Way of Living is the prayer and liturgy resource for the Lindisfarne Community, a neo-monastic network with a motherhouse in Ithaca, NY. At the heart of the ancient monastic tradition was an emphasis on daily prayer and Bible reading. In the new monasticism, we are again finding our spiritual basis in a disciplined life of prayer, study, work and rest. The idea of a Daily Office is an ancient one in the Christian church. The daily prayers, Psalms, readings and meditations make for a balanced spiritual practice. The Way of Living is intended to be flexible and can be read each morning and/or evening or at some other suitable time. This edition is unique in using inclusive language for all its prayers, Bible readings, meditations, Psalms and Canticles, the "little songs" of scripture.

Customer Rating: Summary: A must have for theologians! Comment: In "A Way of Living," Jane and Andrew Fitz-Gibbon bring the ancient Celtic tradition of daily spiritual devotion (prayer, Psalms, meditation, religious readings, Bible readings) into the twenty-first century. The text is easy to read and the book is comfortable to hold. The daily devotions and prayers focus on the seasons and holidays of the Christian calendar. Also, a two-year daily lectionary, Celtic prayer bead meditation, and celebration of the Eucharist are provided. This book includes an explanation of the neomonastic Lindisfarne Community's worldwide network, whose hub is in Ithaca, NY. "A Way of Living" is an intriguing, compelling, yet user-friendly spiritual resource.
