Customer Rating: Summary: One of my childhood favorites! Comment: I loved this movie as a kid and still do=) I thought it was great movie and ties in some life lessons. I still have my hug-a-bunch dolls. My toddlers also enjoy this movie. This is also a live action movie that I believe is better then the animation one but they are both good! Customer Rating: Summary: Am I the only one... Comment: Who was actually very frightened when I was little about the ending part of the movie? It actually gets quite dark, and the theme of the old evil witch dieing with her hand trapped under the glass dome stays with me 'till this day. If you have little ones that like me would be frightened of the subject of aging and death I can't really say this is the best movie for them..Everything up to that ending (and past it where the grandma does not go away) is very good however, the songs are better than sone others I grew up with.. Customer Rating: Summary: WHOA! Comment: I remember this being a good movie, but it terrified me as a child for some reason.. I actually had nightmares! I need to see it again to figure out just why it had that effect on me. But nevertheless it was still a good film. Customer Rating: Summary: i wish they would put this movie on dvd!!! Comment: i really liked this movie when i was a little girl!!i wish they would put this on dvd for a reasonable price.i thought the movie was a great idea.it was very creative. Please put this on dvd for a reasonable price. Customer Rating: Summary: This is NOT a movie for adults! (duh?) It IS an excellent children's movie. Comment: In response to the reviewers who rated this poorly because they didn't like it *as adults*, I would like to say: don't be an idiot, this movie is not INTENDED for adults, it is made for CHILDREN. I can remember watching this over and over as a child, and I loved it; as a grown-up, yes, it's a little annoying, but I have such fond memories of watching it as a child, and the overall message is still really sweet. And I can personally say that my own children love it.
The basic plotline is that the main character's grandmother is dying, and our little heroine wants to save her by making her young, so she travels through her mirror to the land of Hugga to steal these magic fruits from the evil queen. But ultimately the fruit won't save the beloved grandmother, and nothing can really make her young again, but we learn that LOVE can keep bonds strong even when a loved one is becoming more distant.
There is also a lovely twist at the end of the movie, in regards to the mean aunt who wants to put Grandma "out to pasture." :)
Definitely a must-see movie. This needs to come out on DVD!
