Editorial Review:
Perhaps a better title for The Best of Ernie and Bert would be Visits with Ernie and Bert, since the daunting prospect of culling the choicest episodes from more than three decades of Sesame Street is subjective at best. Only eight skits are included in this 30-minute program, which may result in viewer disappointment as countless "favorites" have been omitted. Having said that, the chosen scenes are gems, such as Ernie at the movies contending with a woman's large hat obstructing his view, or Bert residing at a meeting of the Association of W Lovers. Gina and Big Bird introduce the skits while reminiscing through a scrapbook; but, when their conversation turns to babysitting, viewers will wish for more Ernie and Bert and less introductory chitchat. Three songs are included and, thankfully, "Rubber Duckie" is one of them, though the classic bathtub sketch has been overlooked. Nonetheless, Bert's legendary sardonic wit and Ernie's sweet sincerity are wondrous to behold, and the humor ripens as audiences grow older. (Ages 2 and older) --Lynn Gibson

Summary: Good video, just wish it were available as a DVD
Comment: My 15 month old son likes this video, but I would really prefer a DVD format. In general, his favorites are "A CELEBRATION OF ME - GROVER" & "ELMO'S SING-ALONG GUESSING GAME".

Summary: Great video for Ernie and Bert lovers!
Comment: I have been an Ernie and Bert fan since I was a kid, and this video is now so much fun to watch with my own baby, or the children I babysit. There are some classics in here: The trip to Egypt, the night of camping out, the trip to the movies where Ernie has to solve the problem of a lady who sat in front of him with a huge hat, etc. Then there is the wonderful lullaby, "If I Could Visit the Moon." It's too bad they didn't make this a DVD, and it's too bad there aren't more of Ernie and Bert, because I for one am sick of Elmo!!! Anyway, for those of you who are "Old School" Sesame Street, you will love this. It is Jim Henson at his brilliant best.

Summary: Even Babies Love It!
Comment: My 4 month old loves this tape! I needed to buy a little time one day and Play With Me Sesame wasn't on TV at the time, so I remembered that I had this tape. Anyway, I popped it in and my daughter was mesmerized. While it is only 30 minutes, that's about all the television a little baby can handle before they need something else to do. I love it because I remember all the skits and it is very funny, even for adults, while some of the newer Sesame Street DVDs are so "kiddie" that they're hard to take. Forget Baby Einstein. This good ol' standard works just as well!

Summary: Pretty Good...
Comment: most of these clips, (the theater, egypt, "That's What Friends Are For") had me laughing so hard i almost wet myself! But still, not enough songs. Not even "Rubber Duckie" or "Doin' The Pigeon". But still, if you want some of the most hilarious muppet moments ever, buy this video!

Summary: Wish it was longer!
Comment: My son loves Bert and Ernie so I had to buy this video. It's not his favorite, Kids Favorite Songs 2 is, but he does sit down for this one. I can tell he's anticipating the rubber ducky song! A little disappointed it's conducted with Gina and Big Bird looking through a book to show you little clips on Bert and Ernie but it's a good video overall. Just wish it was a bit longer like the one hour Elmo tapes! By the time the half hour video is over and I can get another one in the vcr, my son is gone.
