Customer Rating: Summary: Simpler and Equally effective! Comment: As a previous user of more sophisticated and expensive nasal irrigators I was gladly surprised when I found the existence of the Nasaline Nasal Irrigator. So much more simpler and equally effective is how I would describe this great product. In the simplicity lies the magic and for the price one just can't beat it. I was recently introduced by Mother Nature to the nightmare of sinus episodes. One in particular made me alert at the options to combat this hard to breathe condition. Bought a brand new almost $100.00 product but my economical side (or should I just come out and say "cheap side"?) kept nagging at my decision. Which brought me back with renewed motivation to find something a little less taxiing. Lo and Behold, I found it in Nasaline. The same action at just about 80% less and, of course, the kind reviews of fellow reviewers completed the deal for me. Highly appreciated, enjoying it as we speak, and the coming holidays look a lot less congested thanks to this Nasal Irrigator. When price and function combine so well all I can say is: I love this country and I love what the Nasaline Nasal Irrigator is achieving in soothing this whole nose mess I am in. More like 4.5 stars, If I may! Customer Rating: Summary: Terrific and easy if you follow the tips! Comment: After my sinus surgery this summer, my ENT gave me an ineffective little syringe with a bendy extension to stick on it. What a waste of time that was! If it hadn't been drilled into my head that failure to irrigate would mean the surgery would fail, I would've given up. Instead, I went to Amazon and began researching!
K. Houlding's review on page 1 pretty much says it all; I just want to add that if you've got a sensitive gag reflex as I do, there's a great tip for handling it. Before you start squirting, take a deep breath and slowly say, "Ahhhhhhhhh" the whole time the water is going up and through your sinuses. That does a pretty good job of keeping the salt water from running down your throat. Being an OCD shopper who always has to look for the best price, I searched all over for other sites selling the Nasaline. As far as I could find, NO brick & mortar giants have it--not Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Walgreen's, etc. The "free shipping" merchants on Amazon charge a lot more for the item than the ones who do charge for postage; since I was buying more than 1 irrigator, I chose one with a flat s/h fee no matter how many items were purchased. (It would have been annoying to pay $6 to ship one $12.50 irrigator, but for 3 of them it seemed okay.) Customer Rating: Summary: Life changing Comment: If you push hard.....aiming to clear your sinus cavities....and you can overcome the gag reflex....then you will experience stunning results.
Oh....it travels well too.....
Customer Rating: Summary: NASALINE Comment: THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. IT TRULY HELPS THE CLEAR THE SINUSES.
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A SINUS HEADACHE OR CONGESTION.
EASY TO USE. Customer Rating: Summary: Sure enough, it puts water up your nose. Comment: I bought the Nasal Irrigator (or "nose plunger" as I've come to call it) to deal with some issues from seasonal allergies. My symptoms were pretty much the same things other people are describing - heavy congestion to the point that it interfered with breathing. Originally, I was set to buy a water pik with the nasal attachments, but then I decided the irrigator looked easier and cheaper for the same end result, and there were plenty of people who said they liked it better than the pik. In fact, after reading the other reviews I had pretty high hopes for miraculous results.
But no, this is pretty much just a syringe that squirts water up your nose, and that's it. It probably helped my congestion a little - I've been using it for a few weeks now - but there haven't been any dramatic improvements. It's not uncomfortable as long as you get the water-to-salt ratio right (my reading and personal experience suggest about 1/8 tsp of Kosher Salt to 1 cup of warm water per nostril), and the rubber stopper on the tip seems to create a pretty good seal.
I'll probably keep using it and hope the results improve over time, but it wasn't the same sort of nasal epiphany for me that it seems to have been for some other people. I'm tempted to only give it 3 stars, but I suppose it does a pretty good job at it's stated goal - it does in fact put a lot of water up my nose without any discomfort, even if the end result isn't ultimately what I was hoping for.
