Customer Rating: Summary: An Informative and Uplifting Video Regarding 2012 Comment: By design, this is not a pop-culture, fast-cut video for people with short attention spans. Rather, it moves gently like a guided meditation (backed by an etheric musical soundtrack no less) for those ready to hear a heart-opening message of spiritual ascension. Sharron Rose's calm and soothing voice all but invites you to sit back, take a few deep breaths, and truly ponder what so many cultures throughout history have deduced... that as we near the fateful year of 2012, humanity will be faced with a choice like no other in history. Our material world is destabilizing at an accelerating rate, challenging us to ponder what will follow: Are we doomed? Or, as the scholars and spiritualists in this video suggest, is this just the painful birth process necessary to deliver us to a plane of true higher awareness? You should not be surprised to learn that the choice between humanity's extinction or ascension will be (as it has always been) up to us.
If you need to have your 2012 fears confirmed with a titillating piece of fluff, you can watch that any day on the History Channel or YouTube. But if your spirit is sending out a message of hope that your brain is just now beginning to understand, this video will help keep the channels of communication between the two open. Highly recommended.

Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent information and more Comment: I just had the opportunity to watch this fascinating and mind expanding film and it's powerful sequel TIMEWAVE 2013.
Bringing prophesis together from many of the world's ancient traditions concerning the events that will occur around the year 2012, I was amazed to see how relevant these predictions were to the events taking place in the world today, the economic meltdown, global warming, the health care crisis and much more. The final sections on the Founding Fathers and a strange Masonic monument called the Georgia Guidestones provoked my interest and desire to look more deeply into these subjects. I highly recommend this film. Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty Good, Watch out for Gregg Comment: If you have never heard of the Mayan calendar or 2012 then this might be worth watching. My larger concerns are with interviews of people of who don't have much clue what they are talking about especially Gregg Braden.
Everytime Gregg opens his mouth I get ready to start actively filtering what he says. He is the master of using lots of words in a sounding good way that mean nothing. Here are a few examples:
In the section starting at 6:35 Gregg says that Mayan calendar (in reference to 2012) is one of the most accurate calendars predicting every solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, etc. Gregg, the Mayan calendar, the sacred calendar, the Tzolkin, does not in itself predict anything. It is a set of numbers, like gears, which encounter one another. There are daykeepers who can intepret the energies of the Tzolkin but it is not an astronomical calendar. Maybe Gregg is talking about the Dresden codex or one of the other many Mayan Calendars. What Gregg is taking about is not the same document or mechanism as the Tolkin. This is our first example of Gregg fudging around information in a loose way.
Then Gregg goes of into this trail about the Mayan Calendar not accounting for the human response to these changes. Gregg, that is important maybe in your head but not in speaking about the Mayan calendar. This has nothing to do with the study of the Tzolkin.
Gregg is back on at 15:56 saying there is a growing body of research that says how we experience these cycles is dependant on how we respond to these changes. Come again? That is a statement that makes no sense, a true Braden-ism. What research, what cycles, and what responses? Then he says he thinks everything the masters have been saying for the past 5000 years has been preparing us for this time. How do I even get a handle on such an incredulous remark? Do Buddhists care about the completion of a time cycle in the Mayan Calendar? Did Lao Tzu talk about getting ready for 2012? Help me out here Gregg? Why are you saying this nonsense?
He says the masters are saying if you change your life you will change your body. And if you change your body you will change your world. Hmmm, ok, maybe there is an alchemical stretch here. But most mystics would say the change has to start in your beliefs, your inner landscape, and that the outer world is a mirror of the inner world, not of the specific state of just your body. Then Gregg drops off into some proof of this from quantum physics that the world is a mirror of what we have become collectively from within. Ok, there is some truth to this. But it is really irritating that he combines concepts in a willy-nilly manner that make it sound like he just proved his entire previous point by stating one truth at the end. This kind of careless, or fluffly, combination of statements exists somewhere between imagination and truth. To me that sounds like slick talk or even snake-oil. Mixing things that don't directly relate. Gregg finishes this section by saying that our feelings tend to be mirrored within these great cycles of time. Maybe. But where is your proof for this? And off we go again thinking that what he said was truth. Is is because he sounds so sincere or does he have some hypnotic power to make people just swallow whatever he says?
At 25:33 Gregg is back and says the [?Mayan] calendar is showing us this is a period of opportunity where all the parameters for the past 25000 years [is that because of precession?] are falling away like training wheels. He claims that on Dec 21 2012 we will be more of ourselves than we ever have before. What does that mean? Will we each sprout two heads? Walk on water? Somehow what he said sounds good. But there is no clue as to what he means and no truth to be seen in it. Gregg then claims that the magnetic fields of the earth are holding our perceptions and beliefs and that when the magnetic field either fades and/or reverses then we have an opportunity to become what we have practiced for so long and become truly who we are. Ok, I'm scratching my head here. Is there any proof that the magnetic fields of the earth hold our perceptions and beliefs in place? If we really did land twelve men on the moon then they should have become gods because they were fully outside of Earth's magnetic field. Sorry Gregg, what you say is really nice sounding but with the filters on it does start to sound like hooey.
At 29:45 Gregg claims that without exception he has come across no tradition that does not account for some end-time prophecy. And he says we are in for a big change. But I say that living everyday now one finds one big change or another. Just check the price of gas or food to see it. But for Gregg to say that he knows of no traditions that do not have the end-time concept means he knows nothing about the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan Calendar is a cyclic system. The beginning of the next baktun (maybe Dec 21 2012) is not the end of time but another rollover of the cycles just like a odometer. Yes there will be changes. But in the Mayan system there is no end-time around 2012. This is a big embarrasing slip.
At 31:34 Gregg says Earth is going through a magnetic reversal right now. But Gregg, all we know from science is that the field it weaking. It may or may not do a reversal in the next few years. Then Gregg claims that the increase in solar luminescence AND the weaking of the magnetic fields is what is causing global warming and the poles to melt. But Gregg, other planets like Mars also seem to be warming due to solar luminescence alone. In fact Mars does not even have a magnetic field. Seems like Gregg should stay away from detailed scientific facts because they, like other concepts, become combined in his head too often. He finishes that vignette by claiming that the melting of the poles will affect ocean salinity and currents [?can you spell 'Gulf Stream'] and this will affect global weather patterns. Perhaps this is correct but I would not take it as fact from Gregg. You should start to see a pattern here. Mix in a little fact with alot of fluff and you have found a way to baffle them with you know what.
At 33:26 Gregg claims that the Sun has already lost it's North and South poles. Oh really? You mean the sun no longer rotates on it's axis? Stop the presses. But seriously, I think Gregg maybe thinking of something from the book 'The Orion Prophecy' rather than a study by NASA. Then Gregg starts talking about the magnetic fields on other planets decreasing (remember, there is no magnetic field on mars). Where does he get this stuff? He then is literally stumbling onscreen with this mashup of half facts. Next he claims that the magnetic fields are the glue for consciousness and as the glue becomes weaker and weaker we have the opportunity to transcend beliefs that have been held in place for 5,000 years or so. Well, hold the phone. I would like some proof of this glue. And what beliefs from the last 5000 years do we need to let go of? (I'm sure you can name a few, like patriarchy, and materialism. But if you check with Terrence McKenna we got messed up alot longer than 5000 years ago.)
At 38:06 Gregg returns to this concept of the magnetic fields holding conscioussness (enough already). He says things that are not in integrity will implode upon themselves (you mean as the field decreases?) as they collapse under their own weight. And that we can apply those understandings (what understandings?) in our personal lives and our global lives. While it doesn't provide an excuse for what happened (?what happened) it might provide a framework for people to understand what it is that's going on. ?? Huh? What are you talking about? The fluff-meter is pegged here folks. I just heard about magnetic fields and I now have a framework that sounds like a cloud shaped like the holy grail.
At 54:59 Gregg says people are asking him what to do (now that's an ominuous position to give your power away like that). Then Gregg says that we are changing due to responses to changes in the physical parameters. This right here proves to me that Gregg is not plugged in. The basis of the Mayan calendar is that the spiritual always leads the physical. It takes changes in the spiritual intent (Gregg, it's called Hunab Ku) through the morphogenetic fields (see Rupert Sheldrake) in order to cause a change down into the physical. All spiritual healing takes place from the spiritual to the physical. Our science of today tries to cut and chop away at spiritually-rooted physical problems by only dealing with the material results, not by dealing with the [spiritual] causes of those problems. This line of thinking, to me, proves, that Gregg does not hold any place in the community of teachers of the spiritual.
Then Gregg talks about the juxtiposition of the old a new ways and how this can be a very beautiful and painful process. Ok, I'm lost how this fits into the question about what is going on. This is very fluffy and has no content.
At 57:32 Gregg is back to talk again that for at least the past 5000 years (check Terrence McKenna for a longer window) those that came before us from all the wisdom traditions knew of this convergence of cycles. But Gregg, classical Christianity has fought against cycles of time and stressed final outcomes directed as the result of the playing out (or running out) of linear time (did he ever read Augustine). Gregg claims that all these masters said that you can do this, that if you change your body, you will be able to accomodate the changes of the earth. Then he claims whatever happends to the earth happens to us (can you spell Chief Seattle). That is fair enough but it still dances right past what are wisdom traditions (besides hatha yoga) where the emphasis put on the physical condition (not even martial arts says body is primary) and who in the heck was talking about 2012 besides the Mayan and Inca some 5000 years ago? Many unanswered questions left with Braden-esqe prose that tastes great but is less filling.
Greggs next to final cameo (applause) is at 59:40 Gregg says we have transcended many of the darkest prophecies already. Oh really? Which ones? Gregg wants to look good here so he brings in the Bible Code and it's 'quantum possibilities' and remote viewing, etc. Gregg says all of these darkest predictions we transcended, not just survived. Gregg says we rewrote the code of consciousness and took a different path. He then says we have to live consciously with intent (one of the few good things he said). Then he goes off into this mamby pamby line that if we are nice and help people in traffic that this helps us play a vital role in where we are going with 2012 and anything beyond that. Wow, that's really nice. Almost like love your neighbor like yourself. (did you catch the half/non-truth capped with the truth at the tail end in this segment?) But Gregg, I lost the point you were trying to make. And I do not take 'prophecies' from the Bible Code or remote viewers as being anything in the same category as prophecies made by native peoples like the Mayan, Hopi, or Inka. This is nice touchy-feely thinking that Gregg offers us. Nothing concrete here, again. Another pattern of bait and switch first offering fluff and then passing off the entire sequence as truth by adding some true statement at the end.
Greggs final appearance (no encore) at 94:03 he calls for our final 2012 prayer to live life fully with conscious intent in kindness to one another. And that we should ask ourselves how we can be of service everyday of our lives. When we wake up what can we do to make this a better world. Wherever we go how can we make that place a better place then when we walked in. Ok Gregg, that is the first somewhat clearly understood thing you have said. If he could stick with what he knows and can explain clearly he would be a much better speaker. But then again I think his following might take a dive.
Folks you can see why I have problems with Gregg as a presenter. He creates mashups of half-facts and strings them together with nice talk. But if you get close enough to what he says, he has said nothing that is unique nor warrants his presumed place as any kind of teacher let alone celebrity. And certainly I do not think you should consider him, or anyone, as an authority on what is going on. The real question that was never clearly stressed is that YOU should consider what does 2012 mean to YOU. Not to some talking heads, regardless of their supposed knowledge in the subject.
There were other people in the film who also made me think they had no idea what they were talking about. But the people I really appreciated were Moira Timms, Jay Weidner, and the Inka. If the film would have spent more time on the Mayan calendar, even included Carl Calleman, and less time in fluff, it could have been a much better peice. Still, it is good that there is a film of the possibilties around 2012. And I agree with the point that it could just be enough to believe that such a global shift is possible in order to allow it to occur. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent for those new to the subject Comment: There is no point in me repeating the details of what is contained in this documentary. Some of the other reviewers have covered that quite well. My only contribution here would be in the form of a recommendation. I would recommend this film to anyone who is new to the subject of the Mayan calendar end-date of December 21,2012. It is a good introduction to the subject and the people who are interviewed (Gregg Braden, Geoff Stray, Jose Arguelles, John Major Jenkins, etc)are among the most knowledgeable - and, in my opinion, among the most credible - researchers on this topic.
