Comment: If you're going to get good coffee, which is why you bought the Cuisinart in the first place, you have to take care of the water. This accomplishes that. I wish it was less expensive, since it's just a little pack of activated charcoal, but that's life.

Comment: I left my water filters unchanged for toooooo long (over a year). I can definitely taste the difference and am putting a reminder on my calendar to change the filter regularly.

They're not cheap I guess, but if you use good coffee, why would you want it to taste like something ground you buy in a can? And if you use ground coffee from a can (some of which I like so I'm not slamming it), why wouldn't you want it to taste as good as possible?
