Summary: Only records to the tenths place
Comment: This is my third basal thermometer. The first was chewed up by my dog; the second, and current thermometer, is a Walgreen's brand and only beeps when it has reached the highest measured temperature. I wanted a thermometer that beeps continuously as it measures temperature so I purchased the BD basal thermometer from Amazon and was surprised to find that it did not record the hundredths place as my first two generic thermometers did, i.e. 98.2 instead of 98.26. I believe recording the hundredths place is the main function of a basal thermometer. Also, I found it to be rather inaccurate. My BBT, as measured from the first two thermometers, is a bit on the low side when I'm not ovulating (usually 97.xx), but this one continuously reads 98.x, and does not change throughout the day. Needless to say I am back to using the Walgreen's version.

Comment: I read the reviews before buying,and thought that the beep wouldn't bother me much. I now wish I had gone for one that doesn't beep. Having a backlight feature with the final reading would have been great too. It isn't awful, but it is annoying. I used it about two weeks, but gave up.

Comment: I got this thermometer about a month ago, and it's been great thus far. I was nervous that the beeping would be annoying, but it's not the case - like many other reviewers on here, I find it incredibly useful to know that the thermometer is working, especially when I'm half-asleep.

Summary: Great thermometer!
Comment: I don't have much comparison experience as this was the first and only thermometer that I purchased. I enjoy that it keeps the last temperature taken so I don't have to write it down as soon as I take my temperature (as I am usually mostly asleep and not quite coherent). I don't mind the beeping as it notifies me in my groggy mental state that the thermometer is actually working. Also included is a nifty chart for recording your temperature and other goodies.

Summary: Easy and basic to use
Comment: I did a lot of reviewing before buying my BD Basal Digital Thermometer. I wanted something that most of the people liked, that they found it to be easy to use and very basic. I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles. And I am very pleased with this thermometer.

The Good: I like that it is basic. You press a button, it lights up, it beeps to let you know it is ready. You place it under your tongue and wait. It will beep to let you know that it is still working (and for me, keeps me from falling asleep with the thing in my mouth) then it beeps in a different sequence to let you know it is done. When you turn on the thermometer, it has the last temperature taken lit up on the screen. Which is handy if you have fallen back into your coma and failed to write down your temp for the morning.

The Bad: I wake up at 6:15am every morning to do this and my only complaint with it is that it does not light up to give you your temp rating. When it is finished taking your temp, it will beep to let you know, but doesn't light itself up, I usually have to turn my phone on or move my alarm over so I can read it to record the temp.

Some people said the beeping has woken up their partners. And while the beeping is a bit loud, it is not too loud to be distracting. In fact my husband woke the first morning I started using the thermometer, having had a nightmare about a bomb, but now, he tells me, he hardly hears it, if at all.

I would recommend this little guy. It is easy to use, hard to screw up and there is that nice little `fail safe' in case you do forget to write down your temp. With the only problem being the light up screen that doesn't happen, I'm satisfied with the product....until the BD Basal Digital Thermometer 2.0 comes out ;)
