Customer Rating: Summary: An interesting concept, but so very Shojo.... Comment: I'm a fan of animé, and not much into mech or dark and brooding animé, so I thought that I might enjoy this story and its colorful cast of characters. I am, it appears, very much the wrong audience for this show. While the cheerful demeanor and strength in adversity of the protagonist was nice for a while, and the intrigue of the various characters and the curse was interesting, this animé is quite the Shojo; that is, it is directed toward teenage girls. There are constant romantic intrigues; a few cross-dressing boys; a flamboyant, dress-shop-owning cousin; a group of vengeful school girls who plot against the heroine; yaoi situations.... It's also well-animated, has wonderful music, and is filled with characters who are interesting enough to watch some of their development, but at some point the plot and repeated situations just get to be so terribly girly that I couldn't finish the last disc in the series. This is, of course, a heartfelt recommendation if the aforementioned scenarios appeal to you, but for me, I couldn't take it any more. Customer Rating: Summary: Cute & Charming Comment: This show is absolutley amazing. i watched the series 2wice over the computer and finally got my dad to let me get the dvd's. The manga is really good 2. i suggest anyone who loves the series to read the books too. it continues off where the show stops. and it doesn't really matter if you watch the show first and then the manga, or the other way around, its easy to follow, and people of all ages can enjoy it=] Customer Rating: Summary: Can we say amazing? Comment: AMAZING!
I read the first four manga in this series and fell in LOVE. I am a big fan of Naruto, Bleach, and other Shonen manga/anime, so this is a definite change for me! Shojo is a definite calling for me, considering I'm female. The animation was amazing too, and Tohru has some of the BIGGEST anime eyes I have ever seen. She is so adorable! Along with Yuki and Kyo too! But Kisa is the most adorable person ever! The way they made the zodiac animals were so adorable! Kudos and much more Kudos to both Natsuki Takaya and Funimation! The manga and the anime are both amazing. This anime is definitely recommended! Although this is the Viridian Collection and doesn't have all the bonuses everyone said it should have, I thought it simply amazing; I could care less about the bonuses as long as I have my selected anime! This is also a great price, and I feel bad for the people who love anime that can't afford this! I will start an "Anime Donation of America" one day just for you! Do know I think about you! Anyways enough of that back to the anime. I do believe people who gave bad reviews for this don't understand what true feelings are, this anime absolutely have the effect of drama, love, hate, anger, happiness, fear, and even more drama! I only wished it would have went longer so we could have met the rooster and the horse zodiac and also if we could have known if Akito changed even more than he did because of Tohru, I guess we will never know and that's why we have fanfics! If I could find more anime like this or even remotely as great as this I would be in Heaven! So if anyone has anything to recommend please email me at l0v3m3tal2009@aol.com! I also give thanks to my friend Mimi who really got me into Fruits Basket! Anime love forever!
Customer Rating: Summary: Cute and sweet, but cut short Comment: It's a cute series, though I like the manga better since the story keeps going. I really wish they had continued the series rather than stopping where they did (reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5). That having been said, I still recommend buying the box set, the episodes are sweet and enjoyable. Customer Rating: Summary: Bummer there is no second season Comment: This is one of the best japanese anime i have seen. as soon as i started to watch it. It grabed my attention it is addicting so much that you just wish it would never end. It's a bummer that the DVD's stop at Vol. 4. The Manga is great it has alot more detail and more story then the DVD's but this collection i wouldn't trade it for any thing... it's a very sweet and powerful story... i recomend purchasing this seris.. i bet you will get hooked as well.
