Summary: Much better than expected
Comment: I read all the Amazon reviews and decide to go with the F7411 rather than the slightly cheaper F5 series because of the separate cleaning fluid/water chambers and the upholstery tools. I had it delivered by the next day and it did an incredible job! Easy to install and the carpet is dry quickly as the backstroke sucks up the water. I have two puppies and they are... well puppies... there was no way we were getting rid of Gwen and Luca but the carpet was something to consider changing. We had professional do the job and it was "okay"... now my pups are older and still have accidents.... so I took a chance on this and it has incredibly enough restored the carpet to a nearly new appearance. It is worth the extra cost to keep the cleaner and the water separate.. no mixing needed and it was amazing to see the dirt coming into the reservoir for the dirty water... both reservoirs are easy to clean. The package included a long hose, a Rotating cleaning tool and an unholstery brush. It also comes with enough cleaning fluid to start out. Did a large bedroom in no time. Only drawback so far... thing is a bit heavy but I guess that's why it is so powerful.

Comment: I'm very impressed with this machine. I have hardwood floors so I bought it just for my large (and small) area rugs and furniture. The hardest part of the job was carrying the rugs out to the garage. I didn't realize how dirty they were! You could see this machine clean them as it made a clean stripe down the rug as I moved it along. I love it! You won't be sorry if you buy this one. Best $199.00 I ever spent!

Summary: Much easier than renting
Comment: Just used this machine this weekend for the first time and I was really pleased with the results. I have three small carpeted bedrooms and having my own steam cleaner seemed to make more financial sense than renting a machine or paying a professional carpet cleaner $200 per visit. The Hoover did a nice job cleaning my berber carpets. Assembling the machine was fairly simple, even for a mechanically-impaired person like myself. Like some of the other reviewers, I recommend using really hot water--my tap water is only 120 degrees out of the faucet, and I think it makes a difference if you can use water up to 140 degrees. Plan on emptying and refilling the tank at least twice or three times per room, as it's a bit small.

Summary: Works well and cleans up fairly easily
Comment: Actually works very well. It does an excellent job of sucking the water back up out of the carpet and what comes up is definitely dirty. It does go through water very fast (which is good) so you have to refill it often. It seems to pick back up just as much as it sprays down (which is great)so the carpet is only left damp and not wet! It is fairly heavy when full and comes apart without too much effort for cleaning. I would buy this again.
